Do I have defence to s21 if the gas safe certificate issued to me upon my tenancy was done by someone illegally. (Wasn't on gas register)

I had never seen this certificate until landlord gave me s21 so thought I would ring up gas safe. I now  have it in writing that the gas check was done by someone not registered. I was also given the certificate from the year before this was done by the same guy who again wasn't registered. He failed to do further checks for 3 years but I do have a valid one now.

Yes, that's a defence.
